Restrictions

Underground service cannot be installed in a lateral field unless 2" electrical grade PVC conduit with pull rope is installed at the proper depth prior to lateral lines being installed. The proper depth will be 1' minimum below bottom of lateral ditch. Lateral field installation should be cleared with local health inspector prior to digging.

Trenches opened by the member for use by the REMC must be 4' deep for primary conductor and 3' deep for service conductor. If rock is present, trench depths may be reduced to 3' for primary and 2' for service conductor. Trenches designated for electric conductor and water must be dug with a 3' minimum width backhoe bucket at the previously mentioned depths. The electric conductor must be installed at the bottom of the trench against the side. Water is then installed 1' above the electric conductor against the opposite side.

Meter base location on the structure should be on the side of the structure closest to the electric source. By doing this, less area is designated for use by the electric conductor, leaving more open area for pools, drains, etc.
