Proper GroundingThe insulated copper ground wire can be either solid or stranded and must be unspliced. (The ground or 4th wire on trailer and modular homes must be insulated.) A 5/8" x 8' copper ground rod is to be driven and connected to the ground wire by a type "G" clamp. It must be driven as close to vertical as possible and should never be cut off. (The ground wire must not pass through the meter base in connecting with the panel to the rod.)Galvanized or rigid water pipe cannot be used as a ground rod. |
