Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
Save energy, money & the environment.

You can really change the world, one light bulb at a time. Switching to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs) saves you energy and money, all while helping the environment. CFLs last up to 10 times longer than standard bulbs and use only 1/3 the energy of a standard incandescent bulb. CFLs are now available for purchase at our office!

Long Lasting 130-Volt Bulbs

Do you feel like you're ALWAYS replacing light bulbs? You may be, and here's why:

Most electric utilities - including your REMC - deliver electricity to homes, farms and businesses at 120 to 125 volts. This causes standard 120-volt light bulbs to burn hotter, which results in shorter bulb life. Bulbs rated at 130 volts last longer and actually use less electricity than their rating. (For example, a 130-volt/60 watt bulb actually uses only 53 watts.) A 130-volt bulb operating at 120 volts will last approximately 14,000 hours, while a 120-volt bulb has a life expectancy of only 750 hours. The REMC sells 130-volt bulbs from our lobby display for your convenience.
