Frequently Asked Questions
I want to run service to my post frame building. Do I need an additional meter for this service ?
You were asking about getting electric service for a building that you recently built, and if you needed an additional meter There are two options to provide service to the building Option #1 You can install an additional meter base/meter at the building. There would be a construction charge which will be the cost to run service from existing REMC pole to the meter base at the building (engineer would need to figure the cost) and a one time service connection charge of $30. Also there is a monthly Facility Charge of $15.00, along with kilowatt usage from the meter. Option #2 Also you can run service from existing breaker box from the house and run your own service wire to the building, providing there is enough room in breaker box to run additional service. REMC would schedule a disconnect/reconnect (at no charge) so you could safely complete the work, which is normally done all in one day. Please call planning and zoning to make sure no inspections will be required. If you have any additional questions please contact our office.
